araabMUZIK - Day Dreams

The internet is a vast and daunting place, especially when you're told the new araabMUZIK video was directed by an internet 'cause-celebre' @LILINTERNET. I'm probably out of the loop now but his video for araabMUZIK's 'Day Dreams' is a fantastic impressionistic montage of city-scapes and oceans flashing and melting into him at work on his MPC in a club. Musically this seems to be taking off from his debut 'Electronic Dream' album and pulling fey female vocals together with tougher beats to form an evolution on the Deep Forest or Enigma sound. That's no slight either, I liked numerous tracks from both of their catalogues. The new album is called "Dream World" so this could be time for a resurgence in this style - meditative crossed with club. I dare him to remix, Robert Miles - Children, then, too.

SARH - URQUINAONA

This is the 1st episode of a trilogy directed by Ugo Mangin and it's beautifully dark. I can't find out much about the group although I gather they are French and Urquinaona is in Barcelona. I do like a mystery, hold tight for Parts 2 & 3 then...

Wavves - Demon To Lean On

Yes Wavves, yes! Lord of the Flies & Mad Max converge on their second video taken from the superb "Afraid Of Heights", out March 26th. Wavves have cleaned up, maybe it's time for you too?

Hot Water Music - Drag My Body

It seems Hot Water Music have hooked up with the man as they now have a Vevo account. No matter, this killer tune from last years 'Exister' album pairs lyrics and video to reveal a tragic story. As always HWM deliver a passionate performance, on stage or on set.

Connan Mockasin - Faking Jazz Together

Fleur and Manu have added another mysterious and ghostly element to Connan's already spectral pop music. If those names aren't familiar to you, Manu & Fleur were responsible for the fantastic M83 videos, Reunion & Midnight City. Here they return to the theme of levitation found in Midnight City using it to reward devoted worshipers of a strange & remote ceremony in a corner of a forest. Shot in Fountainebleau to be exact; 55 km's southeast of Paris over a couple of hours, but with many months in post-production.

Bob Dylan - Duquesne Whistle

Here's the first song & video off Bob Dylan's 35th album 'Tempest' and it's a brutal visual to launch the new record. Of course it sets the tone perfectly as Bob has commented that he wanted to make a, "religious record" and as the album suggests, there will be a lot of fire and brimstone. Calyx & TeeBee - Elevate This Sound

Can you think of any great drum and bass videos? Krust - Coded Language and most recently Noisia - Could This Be springs to mind... Now, I wouldn't put this clip for Calyx & Teebee's new RAM tune, Elevate This Sound, alongside those clips, it aint bad, but the song is incredible.
So is there any I'm missing?

2:54 - You're Early

I love what I've heard from this band so far... The video is suitably moody, similar in tone to their debut 'Scarlet'. This number is available as a limited blue 7" single too if you're that way inclined.

ACTiON BRONSON & RiFF RaFF SODMG - Bird On A Wire

I just caught this through a Nardwuar interview, and if you don't know who Nardwuar is, get to know. Action Bronson is from Flushing, Queens, New York and is getting a lot of heat at SXSW this year.
Hype aside, I've only go this to go on so far and I'm in. And this Riff Raff character is coming with a style I haven't seen since 'Hypercolour' and 'Rip N Tear'. I'm certain he's one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reincarnated.
There's no doubt this is all sort of silly; the spliffs hanging out Bronson's mouth, Riff Raff all over, the melodic hook, but hell, it works. And if you insist on sunscribing to all those hip hop cliches, you might as well fuck with them, right?

Diplo - Express Yourself (ft. Nicky Da B)

Diplo gets nasty on this new joint with the video shot in New Orleans. Warning: This can never be unseen.

Plan B - ill Manors

I was having second thoughts about posting this video as he's such a well-known artist now it hardly seems worthwhile drawing attention to something you'll see everywhere anyway. But you won't see this everywhere - and you'll just have to watch the video to see why. Killer tune but the Prodigy didn't add much with their remix sadly. And if you have the time and inclination, I recommend having a listen to him discuss the new single and upcoming album on 1 Xtra with Mistajam; the link pops up at the end of the video.

The Golden Filter - Kill Me

Directed by the High5Collective, this treatment plays on the Oedipal complex where a Mother cannot stand her son's fiancee, or just the thought of losing her son to another woman. Add this straight to your 'best videos of 2012' list and never forget, Mum knows best.
