Refused - Dawkins Christ

Refused deliver their new single taking aim at theism and atheism. No doubt this will stir a debate in a comments sections somewhere, most specifically with song title but listen to the lyrics and you'll see that the title is a little misleading. I'm trying to spot some of the source material but having difficulty with the fast cut and paste style. It works brilliantly and it looks like they've used a Hieronymus Bosch painting, 'Garden Of Earthly Delights'. I would love to discover what movie it is they've ripped too.

The new record 'Freedom' cannot come soon enough out June 29th/30th (depending where in the world you are) on Epitaph.

Strung Out - Modern Drugs

Strung Out are still banging out the punk rock anthems and while this style is not to many peoples tastes, it's a familiar style that I always love to hear when there is a great song. Out on Fat Wreck Chords the band (and label) have ridden the rollercoaster of shifting tastes and times to remain one of the influential bands coming out of the American hardcore scene of the 90s alongside other Fat favourites Good Riddance, Propagandi, NOFX and of course the genesis of the sound, Bad Religion.

The video references the song's theme of drugs and addiction, but it's the tune that really gets me.
Transmission.Alpha.Delta is out now.

Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes - Live @ Sang Bleu London

I'm very excited about this - an E.P from Frank Carter's (Gallows, Pure Love) new band, The Rattlesnakes, is available now to buy and UK tourdates loaded. Check out the new material from the E.P here.

METZ - Acetate

Apparently this isn't the video, but it looks alot like a video. No matter, I've just caught up with the new Metz and that new record has my name on it, come May 5th. Hopefully they won't mind that I namecheck Pissed Jeans, The Melvins and early Nirvana to their obviously credible influences list and thus fit well onto the evolving roster of Sub Pop. Enjoy their punk rock pancake art below and check a review on Consequence Of Sound below if you want to know more.

COS: Metz - Metz II review

Slaves - The Hunter

Did you see this rambunctious pair of scallywags play on Jools Holland in October last year? They completely blew Interpol and U2 off the (sound)stage. Some would say that's not a terribly difficult thing to do. I would be among those people.
Well they're signed now and after a string of indie releases look to be conquering Reading Festival or something this year. But they're good, reminding this aging punk rocker of classic London boot boys, Vatican DC and of course there will be some obvious comparisons to Frank Carter era Gallows. Both great references if you're into raw punk rock and tattoo's. So this is one of their early videos - 'The Hunter'. New one 'Cheer Up London' doesn't have a clip yet but will smash its way around the charts and UK festivals this Summer.

PS. Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes are worth checking out.

FLAG - "My War" Live at Redondo Beach Moose Lodge (4/18/13)

Keith Morris - vocals
Chuck Dukowski - bass
Bill Stevenson - drums
Dez Cadena - guitar, vocals
Stephen Egerton - guitar

The Bronx - Youth Wasted

I love the Bronx and their new album "IV". Here's most likely the only video to come off it, 'Youth Wasted', with... playgirl strippers?

Bad Religion - True North

This isn't the most thrilling of music videos, but its beautifully shot and it takes me right back to listening to these bands posted on this kids wall. So a nostalgia trip from one of punk's founding fathers, acknowledging an influential past while getting on with the present, 'True North', their sixteenth album.

Hot Water Music - Drag My Body

It seems Hot Water Music have hooked up with the man as they now have a Vevo account. No matter, this killer tune from last years 'Exister' album pairs lyrics and video to reveal a tragic story. As always HWM deliver a passionate performance, on stage or on set.

Trash Talk Perform "Explode + Dig"

Trash Talk are the Slayer of hardcore as proved by these two uncompromising live tracks.

Social Distortion - Gimme The Sweet And Lowdown

One of punk rock's most seminal bands, Social Distortion, follow up 'Machine Gun Blues' off their superb album "Hard Times & Nursery Rhymes". It's a lesson in rock'n'roll living Mike Ness learned the hard way. Another favourite of the year so far...

FLATS - FOXTROT

Who needs a budget for a music video? Just steal a section from one of your favourite old movie's and when the band open up, hit fast forward! Flats have their debut album out now, 'Better Living', through One Little Indian records.
