You know I didn't really like this video when I first saw it, but the charming beauty of Julia's unique baroque pop won me over. They call it puppy love. 'Have You In My Wilderness' is out September 25th on Domino.

Jon Hopkins - Open Eye Signal (Glastonbury 2015)
I didn't make it to Glastonbury this year, and to be honest the Pyramid and other main stages don't really appeal to me any longer; Lionel Richie looked like a load of fun but the heart of the festival and the diversity of acts lives well outside the Pyramid Stage now. In saying that The Park Stage is one of the main stages but often hosts many of the more interesting bigger electronic and rock acts over the years, And this guy here, Jon Hopkins, has built on his incredible album live over the last year demonstrated with this inspiring performance of 'Open Eye Signal'.

Jenny Lewis - Silver Lining - Live from Coachella, April 12, 2015
Another Coachella passes me by, but we still have the opportunity to catch some of those classic performances after the fact *sponsors name not included*. I've watched a bunch of the performances back, none of the hip-hop grabbed me, not even my favourite guy, Action Bronson, but then live hip-hop rarely does unless it's a small club show or the Roots. I don't want to knock anyone, but I will say that Bad Religion and Jenny Lewis stood out like those palm trees in the desert. And this version of 'Silver Lining' is beautiful, if you didn't catch it treat yourself here and drag out all those Jenny Lewis albums for the weekend.

Khruangbin - A Calf Born In Winter
Record Store Day is coming up this weekend and to prime you for some exclusive digging, crowd-badgering and eventual disappointment when your desired object ends up on eBay, reacquaint yourself with this superb release from Late Night Tales. It's from Bonobo’s superb Late Night Tales compilation and given its own 7” release. Since then the Thai influenced Texan trio (say it 10 times fast) have built up a burgeoning fanbase with their sublime ‘Infamous Bill’ 10” on Another Late Night last Autumn. This year, they return with another RSD release; a four track EP featuring surf covers of Ennio Morricone, Serge Gainsbourg, Yellow Magic Orchestra and Thai rockers Teun-Jai Boon Praraks.

Kanaku Y El Tigre - Si Te Mueres Mañana
And we're back into 2015 with a whoop from Peruvian electronic folk act Kanaku Y El Tigre. I think it's apt my first post this year is with this video containing the lyric, “if you die tomorrow, make sure you you've done everything you ever wanted”. The video extrapolates that message with a freewheeling long-boarding video embodying that spirit, directed by emerging Peruvian talent Victor Checa. Released on the burgeoning Tigers Milk label a subsidiary of the superb Peruvian restaurants in London, Adina & Ceviche. Eat there, listen here.
