One of the best bands on Polyvinyl? Maybe, they are definitely one with the most historical influences across rock - Replacements, Ramones, Husker Du... but throw in sweet keyboard lines and you have something entirely different though, something entirely more... White Reaper.
These whippersnappers emerged quickly out of a thriving scene of metal, punk, and noise bands in Louisville, Kentucky. A self-titled E.P released last year demonstrated the verve and great songs despite the kitchen sink recording. 'White Reaper Does It Again' LP shows the band naturally extending their sound and revealing much more depth and understanding of their lineage beyond bratty punk.
I don't think the video adds much here, as a scene lifted from a movie called 'Age Of Reason', so I recommend you check out a live session or show and see them play.
Don't fear the reaper.

Wampire - Orchards
Earning for some Ween in the 00's perhaps? Rocky Tinder and Eric Phipps of Wampire may have your new doses. Their brand new album 'Curiosity' plays great indie pop then detroys it in anyway it can. This song "Orchards" is actually one of the most conventional on there. Go forth, and embrace the one-eye purple monster.

Generationals - Put a Light On
I defy not to have this song lodged in your head for all eternity. Superb clip from Vice Cooler, and you must check their album "Heza", out now.
