Jamie's debut album 'Mirrorwriting' is receiving plenty of plaudits in the mainstream press, although corners of the indie press are not so effusive - Stool Pigeon for example, calling him, 'Pubstep'. A deragatory term alluding to the singer/songwriter format that's allegedely been cobbled together with dubstep sounds and structure to make it more relevant to today's ears. I'm not going to get embroiled in all that, having seen Jamie perform live with just an acoustic guitar, I was impressed and am a longtime fan of his 'Wayfaring Stranger' cover (admittedly with the help of a Burial remix). Anyway, this video demonstrates his deft blend of complex electronic loops & rhythms plus his ethereal, plaintative vocal style. Whatever your thoughts on his album, this is a compelling performance.
